FAQ

APPLICATION

Acceptable/Not Acceptable Characters
YES:

↳ Canon characters that exist in all forms of media, as long as there is enough established canon to provide a thorough and distinct personality.

↳ AU (or alternate universe) characters that have moderate tweaks to their canon.

↳ OC's and fandom OC's, as long as there are no direct ties to anyone in the lead cast.

↳ Malleable protagonists.

↳ Non-humans such as vampires, werewolves, Qunari, etc.

↳ CR AU characters (memories from no more than two games)

↳ Fictionalized versions of real people (Hamilton, The Crown, etc).

NO:

↳ Characters under 18 years of age.

↳ Real people.

Anthropomorphic characters

↳ Robots, AI’s or cyborg’s unless they have a human-like personality.

↳ Pregnant characters.

↳ Duplicates of any character already in the game.

Reserves
Reserves are always open.

A reserve is no longer required before submitting an application. They still exist to gauge interest as well as give a little extra time to get the application in. Doing so will ensure that your character's application will be the only one seen for the period in which the hold has been made. Reserve challenges are not permitted and are first come, first serve.

As well, due to reserves being open more often than they are closed, posting a hold for a friend is not permitted.

Character Limit/Game/Cast Caps
Players may have up to four (4) characters in the game at a time.

There is a game-wide cap set to a maximum of 70 characters with the possibility of an increase in the near future pending player interest. Cast caps will be 6 characters per specific canon. Players are only permitted one character per specific canon.

New Canons
Applications for characters in new canons that are less than a month old will not be accepted. Additionally, any current players who wish to canon update their characters are asked to follow the same policy.

Canon Powers/Abilities
Character's who possess innate supernatural abilities or powers will arrive in-game with them. If a character has any "game-breaking" powers, they will be expected to limit/dampen them to assure they are less of a threat to their new surroundings.

Injured/Dead Characters
Players who wish to bring in an injured character are free to have them arrive completely healed or use their wound(s) as a plot device to start quick and easy interactions with others who can help them.

Characters with disabilities or medical needs that require items to assist them with day to day living will have access to such. Equipment, such as wheelchairs, will be basic and made of wood. Where it comes to medications, characters will arrive with a two week supply. In most cases, medicines can also be duplicated by the local apothecary.

Please do not bring your character in from a canon point in which they are dead.

OOC INFORMATION

Pacing
Day ratio is 1:1; one IC day = 1 OOC day.

Activity Requirements

Activity Check (AC) runs from the 1st to the 7th of each calendar month. Anyone who does not post to the check-in during that time will be considered idle and removed from the game. There will be no warning list posted. Those who are swept from the game will have to wait 30 days before reserving and re-applying, unless the character slot is filled before then.

Having active players is essential for any game to thrive but roleplay is a hobby and your mods believe stress in any hobby makes it less enjoyable to take part in. That being said, AC is "check-in" with proof of play that you feel is sufficient enough to remain in the game. This does not mean submitting a single tag or 2-3 threads with one short reply in each for the month being checked. Players may also use threads that have taken place in logs but are still being worked (backtagging) on. However, links submitted must take place in the applicable AC month being checked, so please link starting from the first comment from your character in the applicable AC month.

A "pass" can be requested if a player is having an off month. Anyone who is found requiring passes more often than not may wish to rethink being in the game. Character squatting is not permitted.

Hiatuses posted officially and that are two (2) consecutive weeks, but no longer than a month, will be exempt that player from AC. Retroactive hiatuses are not permitted.

If you end up swept, you are welcome to reapply a month after you were swept. If this ends up being a reoccurring thing thing, the mods might come and speak with you about your activity.

Events/Player Plots
In-game events will happen monthly and range in size and theme. Notice of all events/plots will be made at least a month (or more) in advance and come with OOC information for the event, as well as a top-level designated to other questions. Every event will have an opt-out for those not willing to participate.

If players wish to pitch an idea for a smaller plot or event, they may do so on the Plot Suggestion page.

Writing Style
Prose and action brackets are both acceptable.

Character Drops
If a drop is necessary, players are asked to take the appropriate steps in exiting the game properly so that they may return at a later date if they so wish. This means visiting the drop page and filling and submitting the appropriate form. "Dropping" via the OOC community or on Plurk will not put you in good standing and returning may not be possible. Additionally, players of characters who are swept from the game community due to inactivity are also less likely to be welcomed back.

On an IC note, characters who are dropped will leave with the items they originally arrived with. Anything acquired while in-game will remain and can be parted onto other characters by way of OOC communication.

IC INFORMATION

Arrival
Arrival in-game is at a crossroads sign outside of the town of Gazin and unlike many other places in the multiverse where they simply "wake up", players have the opportunity to choose how they wish for their character to get there. It can be an exaggerated blink, a poof of smoke or entering a pitch-black room and suddenly there's a light at the far end, it's entirely up to you. As long as they have some sort of thought, vague or otherwise, beforehand that they wish to be somewhere else.

Characters will also arrive with whatever they have on their person. This means whatever they are wearing and what might be in the pockets of those clothes. Purses and backpacks can come along, but may not be Bags of Holding. Weapons are permitted, with the exception of firearms.

Technology such as cellphones and laptops can work for as long as there is battery life, but after that will be rendered useless as there is no electricity.

Setting/Locations
Details of the World and its locations can be found here. This page will be edited so check back often to see what's been added.

Accomodations/Employment
All characters new to the game will be offered a room at the inn for a small weekly price. From there, it's up to you, the player. Land may be owned by NPC citizens, so in most cases, parcels can be purchased if your character is the farming type. If not, there are plenty of other places your character can stay in town or in one of the neighbouring hamlets/villages.

Employment is also up to the player, though any kind of job or skillset that has to do with modern-day technology is not likely to be an option unless they can create medieval era versions of things. Typical jobs of this era include farming, blacksmiths, tailors, merchants, apothecary, etc.

Currency
Currency used is this the region is gold, silver and coppers.

Weather
Most places follow the regular four seasons - Spring, Summer, Autumn/Harvest Time and Winter and have climates that follow accordingly. Places along the coast are subject to more precipitation than inland.

In-Game Death
Death is possible, but temporary, in most cases. Resurrections are done by the NPC, Bhalris.

Languages
If your character arrives speaking another language, there are two things a player can do. First, is being greeted by Bhalris soon after arriving. Since this NPC is a magic user, he can provide a spell that allows your character immediate knowledge of the English language. Second, is to arrange English lessons with another character in-game.

NPC'S
Two NPC's are available for interaction. One is a druid named Bhalris, who also owns the local herbarium and the other is Zane, a Gazin citizen.

Bulletin Board
A monthly bulletin will go up in the OOC community and provide upcoming events/plots, weather notices and job openings/contracts for players to use as jumping-off points for new CR and in-game experiences.

Another question!

On the app, when it asks for two samples in replacement of a personality section for canon characters, is that in addition to the other two samples asked for at the end of the application?

No worries! I prefer to err on the side of making sure I understand. My brain is fuzzy today, so I wanted to ask.
